The National Storytelling Network respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to its Web site. NSN strongly believes that if electronic commerce and online activities are to flourish, consumers must be assured that information provided online is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect online privacy NSN has implemented the following policy.


If you give us personal information, we will treat it according to this policy. If you choose to provide us with personal information by sending an e-mail to the NSN, we use that information to respond to your message and to help us provide you with information that you request. We do not collect personal information for any other purposes. The information you provide is not given to any private organizations or private persons. The National Storytelling Network does not collect or use information for commercial marketing. When the National Storytelling Network collects any personal information on our website, we will express our need for the personal data at the point of collection. Some of the reasons why we collect your personal information include:


  • To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on, members and other users are asked to register and provide some limited information. This information is submitted voluntarily. NSN asks users to provide their name, organization name, business phone, and e-mail. Similar information may be submitted to NSN through membership applications, conference registration, publication orders, subscriptions, and contest registrations.
  • Participation in discussion groups
  • Collaboration efforts
  • Registration to membership programs or newsletter subscriptions
  • Provide registered users a more personalized and meaningful experience on the Intel website.


Disclosures to Third Parties.

NSN also makes member contact information available through the Online NSN Membership Directory. On occasion, NSN may also provide limited data to third parties that offer products and services. These limited data include names, companies and business addresses, but do not include business phone numbers, business fax numbers, or e-mail addresses. Users may request NSN refrain from disclosing the data it collects to third parties on the membership application form, conference registration form or any other form on which they are providing information; an opt-out box will appear on each form on which a user provides information. Alternatively, users may contact NSN at or 1-800-525-4514 to express their preferences if they determine later that they do not wish to have the information shared.


Credit Card Account Information.

NSN does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, NSN submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate clearinghouse.
